Duck Annual Cost Calculator: How Much Does It Cost to Keep Ducks a Year?

How much does it cost to keep ducks for a year?
There is no honest universal price: feed, water and housing prices are local. The calculator uses published adult feed consumption, then combines it with the bag price and the housing, water and supplement costs you enter.
- Feed is ducks × published feed per duck per day × 365 days. For laying ducks, the calculator shows the span between Metzer Farms’ breed figure and eXtension’s 120 g figure instead of averaging away the disagreement.
- Housing is annualised: one-time housing cost divided by the useful life you choose. The calculator does not pretend every coop lasts the same number of years.
- Water and supplements use your monthly amounts × 12. A zero means you left that category out; it does not claim the category is free.
- Cost per duck divides the full yearly estimate by flock size. Cost per dozen divides it by the eggs per week you enter, so it includes every entered cost, not feed alone.
| Adult, per duck per day | Laying | Not laying |
|---|---|---|
| Pekin | 0.48 lb (218 g) | 0.4 lb (181 g) |
| All other breeds | 0.4 lb (181 g) | 0.35 lb (159 g) |
| Runners | 0.3 lb (136 g) | 0.25 lb (113 g) |
| Mallards | 0.2 lb (91 g) | 0.15 lb (68 g) |
| Laying ducks (eXtension) | 120 g (0.26 lb) | — |
This is a planning estimate, not a promise. It includes only the costs entered here; emergency veterinary care, repairs, bedding, electricity, permits and lost feed are outside the total unless you include them in your own monthly figure.

Where these figures come from
Every number this tool produces traces back to one of these. Where they disagree with each other, the tool says so rather than picking a favourite.
