Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to information when you use Quackoria (quackoria.com). It is written from what the site actually runs.
Who we are
Quackoria is an independent website about ducks, run by one duck lover. It is not an official, medical or veterinary source.
Information you send us
Nothing on this site asks you for your name, your email address, or any other personal detail. There is no sign-up, no account to create, and no form to fill in.
If you leave a comment, the name, email address and comment you submit are stored by WordPress on this site so the comment can be displayed and moderated.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider, Bluehost, keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, the page requested, the page you came from and the time of the request — for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention. The host keeps these logs under its own retention rules.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser; advertising identifiers and similar technologies do the same job in other ways. Quackoria uses analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, plus the cookies WordPress needs when someone signs in to manage the site or leaves a comment. The Cookie Policy lists them and explains how to control them. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage is off unless consent has been given.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4, through the Google tag (gtag.js) set in the theme to count visits and to see which pages, games and tools people find useful, in aggregate. It records pages viewed, the device and browser type, an approximate location derived from the IP address, and a few events: starting and finishing a game (with the final score), using a tool, and sharing a page or a score. It never receives what you type into a tool or the pictures you use in the meme maker. We do not use it to identify an individual visitor.
Google processes this data under its own privacy policy, and explains how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
Quackoria is preparing to show advertising through Google AdSense. No advertising code runs on the site yet, and this section will say so as soon as it does.
When advertising starts, Google and other third-party vendors will use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Where the law requires consent — including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — a Google-certified consent message will ask before personalised ads are shown; without consent, only non-personalised ads, chosen from the page itself rather than your browsing history, may appear. You will be able to opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings, and Google explains how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Ads will not be placed inside games, beside game controls, or on the colouring pages, quizzes and other fun tools that children use.
Browser storage: scores, settings and the flock journal
Our browser games save your best score in your own browser using localStorage, and some tools remember their last settings. The Duck Flock Journal stores the flock name, dated bird, egg and feed counts, observation choices and notes you enter. That data stays on your device and is never sent to us. CSV and JSON exports are made by your browser and saved wherever you choose; clearing this site’s browser data removes the stored copy.
Content loaded from other companies
The typefaces on this site are served from our own server, so no request is made to a font service when a page loads.
Links to other websites
We link out to sources and to other sites we find useful. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s website, under their policies, and we are not responsible for what they collect.
Children
Quackoria is family-safe and is used by people of all ages; some pages — the games, the colouring pages and the quizzes — are made to be enjoyed by children. Quackoria does not knowingly collect personal information from children. There is no account to create, no form to fill in, and the games and tools keep nothing beyond your own browser. Advertising is not shown on the games, tools, colouring pages or quizzes, and children’s activity is not used to build interest profiles.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information a website holds about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. This site holds none beyond the server logs described above. A published way to make such a request will be added to this policy as soon as one is available.
Changes to this policy
When what the site runs changes, this policy changes first, and the date below changes with it.
